Today Mercury moves into retrograde motion for the first time this year. Mercury usually has three retrograde periods per year and in 2026 each one will be in a water sign, firstly Pisces, then Cancer & Scorpio.

Mercury represents communication and language, learning and comprehension but also commuter and short distance travel. All this can go a bit awry during a retrograde period.

We may find our words don’t land as they should or as intended, creating misunderstanding. Our comments can become misconstrued or manipulated. We may feel like we have a head full of fog and therefore have trouble getting our thoughts in order or remembering details. Our logical mind can become illogically driven

Through this period, it might be best to exercise our inside voice rather than our outside voice, meaning  - just because you think it, doesn’t mean you have to say it.

We could also experience transport delays and misdirection along with tech glitches and internet dropouts so it might be best to back up documents and make sure any content writing is saved.

We may feel more sensitive to noise, chaos and commotion or in social settings and within crowded places. Mercury retrograde in Pisces can trigger our inner victim who wounds very easily, or we may find ourselves on the receiving end of someone else’s projection of this same mentality.

It’s okay to be skeptical if external influences reek of misinformation or seem determined to exacerbate confusion. Take nothing for granted and listen to those whispers of doubt telling you to wait, clarify or step back.

If nothing on the outside is making sense, turn your focus inward. Spend the next few weeks in imaginative contemplation, spiritual exploration or lost in nostalgic memory.  Generally, a Mercury in Pisces mood is one of quiet reflection and more attuned to intuitive messaging, subtle conversations or dream connections.
